National Cadet Corps (NCC) came into existence on 15th July, 1948 under an Act of Parliament. Over the years, NCC has spread its activities and values, across the length and breadth of the Country; in schools and colleges, in almost all the districts of India. It has attracted millions of young boys and girls to the very ethos espoused by its motto, "unity and discipline" and molded them into disciplined and responsible citizens of the Country, NCC has attained an enviable brand value for itself in the young India's mind space. It aims at character building and leadership, in all walks of life and promotes the spirit of Patriotism and National Integration amongst the youth of the Country. Towards this end, it runs a multifaceted training; varied in content, style and processes, with added emphasis on practical training, outdoor training and training as a Country, with the dawn of third millennia, there have been rapid strides in technology, information, social and economic fields, bringing in a paradigm shift in learning field too; NCC being no expiation. A need was felt to change with times. NCC has introduced its new training philosophy catering to all the new changes and developments taking place in the Indian society. It has streamlined and completely overhauled its training philosophy, objectives, syllabus, methodology etc, thus making it in sync with times. Subjects like national integration, personality development and life skills, social service and community development activities etc. have been given prominent thrust.
The ‘Aims’ of the NCC laid out in 1988 have stood the test of time and continue to meet the requirements expected of it in the current socio–economic scenario of the country. The NCC aims at developing character, comradeship, discipline, a secular outlook, the spirit of adventure and ideals of selfless service amongst young citizens. Further, it aims at creating a pool of organized, trained and motivated youth with leadership qualities in all walks of life, who will serve the Nation regardless of which career they choose. Needless to say, the NCC also provides an environment conducive to motivating young Indians to join the armed forces.
Satya Ranjan College, Kalain NCC SD unit was established in the year 2020 under 3 Assam Battalion with 22 Cadets. Since then, the NCC has passed through a long 3 glorious years with 60 cadets in strength. The cadets have established themselves in several spheres of society tribute their best for well-being of the Nation.

c) To provide an environment conductive to motivating young Indians to choose the Armed Forces as a career.
The Satya Ranjan College NCC Boys SD Unit always endeavours to provide the best practices available in order to prepare an upright and devoted citizen of the country. Every year new cadets are inducted from among the newly admitted students of TDC first year/semester through a standard selection process. The whole course is divided into three years and every year a cadet has to undergo a definite training session including State, Regional and National level camps whenever required. B certificate is awarded to the second year passed out cadets and C certificate is awarded to the third year passed out cadets after qualifying in the examination conducted by NCC Directorate.
The cadets conducts and participates in different programme as and when Scheduled by Battalion, Besides that the NCC unit celebrates many occasions in college and surrounding areas like-awareness, cleanliness activities etc. On different occasions the name of Satya Ranjan College NCC SD unit is proudly mentioned by the Battalion for its excellent tasks. Beside this, many cadets were selected for various National level camps.
